Lise (Emily Glaister) is a sad little girl until Bulle (Eilif Hellum Noraker) arrives in the neighbourhood and the two become friends. Also in the neighbourhood is local inventor Dr Proctor (Kristoffer Joner) who has invented an amazing farting powder. Together they eat 1.43 metres of custard pudding, fart (a lot), get chased by a giant snake and… well… that’s about it.
Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder (Doktor Proktors prompepulver) is a Norwegian children’s film based on the book by Jo Nosbø... and possibly the most embarrassing thing to come out of Norway since A-Ha. It’s been dubbed into English (blimey!) and probably by the cast of Eastenders from the sound of it. Sure, we’re not the target demographic (and with nobody else in the cinema during our screening it’s hard to know what the demographic is) but apart from a few chuckles it’s too long, too silly and relies on one joke to sustain a plot that could be done and dusted in half the time. Silly. But don’t take our word for it; these quotes from the movie speak for themselves.
Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder is in very limited release... for a very good reason. Younger viewers could enjoy this but there are other things that may amuse the little ones during the school holidays more than this film. (ME)
