Dior and I documents the eight weeks between the appointment of Raf Simons to the house of Christian Dior and his first collection for the iconic label. The film follows this journey alongside narration from Christian Dior's memoirs on his early life as a designer and his first collections. Finding a balance between Dior the brand and Dior the business, the film celebrates the intensity of the fashion industry and the army of talented people required to present an amazing event. By the end of the film we felt little empathy for the precious and pretentious Simons, but the garments and show were spectacular. The frantic pace of the film suitably mirrored the pace at which the task was undertaken. Enjoyable. (ME)
